Lights and shades of (every) woman

March 8, 2012

I remember when my mother in the 80’s used to wear skinny pants, jackets with shoulder pads and fluo colours accessories from the head to the feet. I always thought she was a little strange as well as all the other women around, but I didn’t know that in those years fashion was trying to state women as ambitious, confident and dynamic.

Today I have the same feeling about fashion: I think that the catwalks can be one of the most important point of view to understand the state of the art regarding the social position of women.

This is the reason why I appreciated some designers during the last catwalks in Paris. Above all Nicolas Ghesquiére (Balanciega) who was able to create an image of women far away from the old classic working girls’ outfits and mainly focused on contrasts and details, the essential features of all women.

And you, what do you think about it?
