Alighiero Boetti: the exhibition in Milan

January 7, 2013

Alighiero Boetti used to use yarn as raw material for his artworks and he was one of the first artists who decided to cross cultural and physical borders with his work: now Milano is celebrating this artist with an exhibition at the Studio Giangaleazzo Visconti until March 22nd.

He is most famous for a series of embroidered maps of the world, Mappa, created between 1971 and his death in 1994. Boetti’s work was typified by his notion of ‘twinning‘, leading him to add ‘e’ (and) between his names, ‘stimulating a dialectic exchange between these two selves.
