I already wrote about this year contest theme: Feel the Yarn and the students involved in the project will focus their skills on ‘Dual: Contrast or Fusion’. Now I’m happy to spread the word about the matches between students and mills.
Consorzio Promozione Filati and Pitti Immagine, together with the most important Italian yarn industries, launch the 6th edition of Feel the Yarn, the contest dedicated to knitwear designers.
Last year I just wrote the following post concerning ITS (International Talent Support). This year, I did something more and I went to Trieste myself, in order to take part in the emotion and joy of 40 young designers.
Last Friday at Pitti Filati the award ceremony of this year contest took place: Matilda Norberg, one of the students coming from the Royal College of Art in London, won the competition.
For the fifth year in a raw, Toscana Promozione, Pitti Immagine, Consorzio Promozione Filati and the most important italian yarn producers will promote in 2014 a contest for knitwear designers.
Industria Italiana Filati was among the companies which took part at the Feel the Yarn project. In this edition the two students who represented the company were Carolina Russo and Giulia Astolfi.
Last Friday was a great day for Feel the Yarn: during Pitti Filati the award ceremony of this year contest took place. As already explained by Ornella Bignami, tutor and coordinator of the project, the theme of the competition was ‘Pull Lovers’.
What is the theme of Feel the Yarn 2013 contest and how it was born?
The theme of the context is “Pull-Lovers”. A theme that transfers into knits feelings of pleasure, wellbeing and love.
For this year’s project, each student has designed and produced 2-3 knitted outfits inspired by the theme ‘PULL-LOVERS. A new feeling for knit’, using yarns from one of the participating Italian spinning companies.
Hochschule Niederrhein – University of Applied Sciences was one of the fashion schools which took part to the Feel the Yarn project last year.
