Kids and adults, members of the Knitting and Crochet Guild of the United Kingdom, have put all their efforts to knit woolsacks for all Olympians and Paralympians participating in the London Games.
Woolsacks are English pillows used as seat of the Lord Speaker in the House of Lords Chamber of Parliament for centuries and which are made of bright red wool cloth and stuffed with wool produced from each of the countries of the Commonwealth.
This production has been made to put the attention on the 2000 years of wool productivity in the British Isles, the very first industry in Great Britain.
Pillows for the London Olympics 2012 have been made of various woven designs, knitted, crocheted, needle felted, felted. All the details and the patterns can be found on www.woolsack.org.
