“Simplicate and add more lightness”
William Bushnell Stout
Forget confinement and uncertainty typical of the winter season, dress lightly and go out with your mind free from negative thoughts. Go for a walk without your mobile phone, your watch, your fitness bracelet.
Fashion is now pocketless, light, free of burdens and heavy thoughts.
This can only be a passing phase, we need lightness after months of sitting still in front of a screen, chilled by immobility.
The closet is empty and the few garments we need are light, impalpable, floating like underwear hanging on a twine in the garden.
The colours suggested by our art director, Elisabetta Scarpini, are almost transparent, neutral, very pale. The colour of the sky just before dawn. Pure light and brightness.
The yarns that best interpret this lightness are recycled polyamides, and very shiny and fine viscose filaments. Only the new generation of electronic machines can interpret this need for very thin and at the same time wrap-around fabrics.
White cashmere with sophisticated micron-gauge-yarns for shawls and scarves that look like pashminas.
11.5 micron merino cardigans , with traditional buttons replaced by a series of interwoven ribbons and laces. Knitwear is reinvented in light tapes that are both an accessory but also a tool for a new interpretation of cardigans and pants.
Oversize pullovers with drawstring at the bottom or drawstring at the neck.
When talking about lightness, winter yarns have a leading role because only the animal kingdom can offer very fine micron-gauge-yarns without sacrificing quality and durability.
Cotton yarns, for deep dives in nature, are wrapped in Teflon, to reduce fragility and to guarantee the ability to deal with long open-air walks.
Colour contrasts are banned, everything moves in a continuous nuance. The sophistication of jacquards is expressed in the harmonious contrast between opaque and shiny colours or between smooth and rustic yarns.
Transparencies and openwork stitches details find their expression through the now consolidated use of transparent yarns inlaid with full-bodied yarns.
Transparency and lightness are perfectly combined in overlays. Long, light dresses and cardigans, vests and sleeveless pullovers, shrug cardigan that do not weigh more than 100 grams in total.
Beautiful in this theme is the game of alternating garments made with different stitches between front and back, sleeves and body.
The garments closest to the body are knitted in small openwork and romantic stitches and are always covered by an overlying garment that makes machine-made lace undergarments visible through the movement of the body and the wind that ruffles the hair.
We dress in multiple impalpable layers in order to be able to savour the taste of freedom of a walk in the open air. All to be repeated at least once a day until the next theme!
