Our Knitwear Art Director, Elisabetta Scarpini, goes beyond the present, reviewing products and collections that transcend today, while foreseeing and reinventing the style system with New chances to re-examine products and collections.

 

Knit feels the present, wears the future but respects the past. 

 

Tradition is revisited in a contemporary WAY AND classicism is combined with research. Traditional fisherman stitches are combined with jacquards in patchworks, exalted by new polyamide and lambswool yarns.

Globalisation means a new nomad combination of stitches and a patchwork of techniques.

Inlays have geometric shapes,
elongated and deformed by time and gravity nothing is regular, shapes are extended.

Surfaces are played out, experimented. The new knitting machines allow use of yarns with different consistencies and to have a three-dimensional texture.

Bouclé yarns, tucked stitches and crumpled effect perfectly emulate the waves of the sea and the random movements of the ripples given by the wind. Summer printed yarns are reinterpreted in winter themes with innovative printing techniques. Woven yarns are printed in contemporary mixing colours.

Shapes adapt to this modern and visionary mood. Sleeveless sweaters, oversized looks or sweatshirt-like hoods are part of this contemporary genderless theme of new urban nomads, where the looks fit in both female and male wardrobes. Innovation is especially evident in THE materials.

Each fiber is used in the smartest way. Thin yarns are recommended on fine-gauge knits because they can be casual or smart, and they’re the perfect in-between layer for these uncertain times. Stretch components, viscose, polyamide and comfort yarns are the secret to volume up the stitches.

Alpaca is the most demanded fiber for its hypoallergenic characteristics, and low lanoline component. Extra fine merinos return to the limelight for its micronage and ability to interpret cleanly and linearly every pattern.

Recycled cashmere is absolutely the most demanded winter yarn as it combines the need to counteract the exceeding production of the past with the need to renew one’s cloak room with sweaters more suitable for the contemporary world.
