“True beauty is not something that can be seen, but felt”
Let’s face the arrival of spring together. Seasonal change is something traumatic, expected but always disruptive which can only be faced by firmly grasping a beautiful sweater that to the touch tells the story of this unexpected season.
We dress in knits from head to toe: trousers in stocking stitch with lateral inlays of light, eyelash, and fluttering yarns. An urban cowboy style to combine with knitted jackets and applique fringes. Three-dimensional sweaters with abstract inlays made with different stitch and yarn textures.
Paillettes, binary yarns, bouclettes and furry, are playful alternates but merge in the same shades. Open ponchos always fringed.
Capes and shawls with high neck but short lengths.
Since the new “must” are recycled yarns, it is better to use them in Milano stitch to compensate for the problem of short and fragile fibres.
Knitwear still supports us in this seasonal attack and plays with three-dimensionality, bouclette yarns to make geometric and three-dimensional inlays. Multicoloured paillette inlays to enliven the touch, because beauty is something you need to be able to touch. Sponge stitch for those who already want to try more summer products. Knitwear defies the sweatshirt and offers mechanically brushed cotton yarns on the finished product or directly from the spinning.
The counts of the moment are transitional, perfect for gauges 5 and gauges 7. For the sake of knitwear, even if it is the worst time to experiment with creative melanges, you must however, try combinations of fancy yarns with furry yarns. The cotton cord must be enriched with brushed wools and with the finest kid mohair and cashmere. This is not the time to save on quality because the trend of recycled yarn shifts down the performance of yarns in terms of strength and durability; therefore, to compensate for these elements and not risk losing the primacy of quality and excellence of Made in Italy, we must also focus on new fibres and Mediterranean excellence.
Neutral colour combinations with strong seasonal colours. Being a season of accentuated contrasts, recycled yarns coexist with traditional yarns with enormous creative value.
The real challenge is the untraceable organic cotton, a dream for many and the only real and definitive solution to the huge impact of the climate crisis on the textile world. Honest advice? Buy it now, book it, save it for the current season and for the future season. Whoever has the yarn in the house will win!
